classic level 1 fodder in anything fantasy based. a game simply wouldn't be a game without the mundane need to go and clear out a room full of rats.
but these babies bite back!
finally repainting the bases i decided to give the paint jobs a bit of a spruce up too. previously i just slapped on some base coats and threw some agrax earthshade over them but this time i decided to add a little more detail. vary some of the washes on the furs and generally just add a little more detail.
also another perfect reason to show off the dungeon with its ever growing list of denizens
i also wanted to share what i have had in the works along with this
i'll leave the discovering to you guys, but things are really starting to take shape nicely and i get to tick off another from my to do list.
go me!
Gorgeous rats, are those 20mm bases? That swarm looks really menacing as it scurries towards the dwarf, ravenous as they are rabid with disease and the mutating properties of warpstone.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the orcs and more cool photos of your expanding WHQ & dungeoneering collectio. This is something i've watched for a long time and as i just figured out how to post .. i thought i'd leave words of encouragement, and let you know how envious i am of your wonderful cards and tiles and .. those amazing toys.
thanks. those bases are actually 1 pence coins....cheapest bases not on the market! :)
Deleteand i certainly appreciate the words of encouragement. not really that many people seem interested in this recreation.
and yeh. im also looking forwards to getting to those orcs...not far off now
All this time I've been using pennies to weight bases.. silly me.
ReplyDeleteHrm .. concerning the interest of others, I consulted the tome of wisdom - Zen & The Art of Hobby Happiness "maybe its better not to be too far in the limelight, too much attention can bring more woes than its worth. Perhaps all we ever need is the occasional crumb of recognition, like a paranoid skaven tactician content to remain nameless" hehe.
i see a lot of people just outright using 1p and 2p coins as bases. seem to add a nice weight to minis in all honesty, and works well with the really small ones like snotlings.
Deleteand regarding obscurity. i dunno. i like spit balling ideas and getting feedback. it helps give me a bit of focus. :P
Haha, it is really funny!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere on the other part of the world I also just finnished my WHQ printed tiles and just did the greenstuff work to get the orcs more dynamic. I also bought the same doors from zealot miniatures and was thinking whether I should go for the skaven or reaper rat models.
Also love your choice of the 40k inquisitor as witch hunter. I planned to do the same :-D
By the way a great blog you have and a cool project!
feel free to link up your stuff for other users to have a look at! :)
ReplyDeleteglad you enjoyed the blog too. thanks
